A little slice of heaven, with a side of snark.

Hello, and welcome. I am your oh-so-humble editor, and I am very pleased to have you with me on this journey of flavor.

First, a little background. Coming from a stereotypically large Italian family, food has always played an important role–even more so, in our case, as more than a few of my relatives have all tried their hand at being restaurateurs. Most of us (myself included) are accomplished cooks, though not all of us ply that particular trade. Honestly, I love to cook for myself and the people I care about, but the thought of me having to keep up with a dinner rush is honestly a little nerve-wracking. o_O

Italian fare and desserts are my specialties, but I want to learn more and break out of my comfort zone. That, dear reader, is where you come in.

Each week, I’ll strive to do two things:

  1. To try out something new (whether a recipe, a restaurant, or a technique) and report the results;
  2. To share something that is familiar to me (whether a recipe, a restaurant, or a technique), with the hope that someone else will find it as tasty/useful/what-have-you as I do.
For restaurant reviews, I will not be reporting on chain locations, instead choosing to focus on the myriad of independently-owned restaurants in and around Binghamton, NY. With the ever-popular Binghamton Restaurant Week right around the corner, and the recent grand opening of three new local restaurants (Water St. Brewing Company, Thai Time, and Fushimi), I certainly have an excellent way to get started.
